Indian Penal Code in India with brief explanations

  1. Section 302: Punishment for murder - Whoever commits murder shall be punished with death, imprisonment for life or imprisonment for a term up to 30 years.

  2. Section 304: Punishment for culpable homicide not amounting to murder - Whoever causes the death of any person by doing any act with the intention of causing death or with the knowledge that it is likely to cause death, but without premeditation, shall be punished with imprisonment for a term up to 10 years.

  3. Section 307: Attempt to murder - Whoever does any act with the intention of causing the death of any person, or with the knowledge that such act is likely to cause death, shall be punished with imprisonment for a term up to 10 years.

  38. Section 511: Attempt to commit an offense punishable with imprisonment for life or other imprisonment - Whoever attempts to commit any offense punishable with imprisonment for life or imprisonment, or to cause such an offense to be committed, shall be punished with imprisonment for a term up to half of the longest term of imprisonment provided for that offense, or with the punishment provided for that offense, whichever is less.
